Our vision is to improve the quality of life for those we serve through providing the most basic of needs, nutritional food, and to relieve hunger in our community.
We will be the voice in the community advocating for hunger relief, speaking out for those who have no voice.
We will actively seek to partner with social service agencies and local organizations to meet the broader need of our community.
We will honor the trust of our members, donors, and the community by maintaining the highest standards of ethics.
We will serve others with dignity and compassion while providing equitable access to the program and its resources.
Our mission is to benefit low income families in our communities who have little or no food resources from which to draw from for continuous support.
We strive to meet the nutritional needs of children, the elderly, low income, and handicapped.
Willamette Valley Food Assistance (WVFAP) is a non-profit 501c3 organization based in Dallas, Oregon that has served the low income, elderly, and handicapped of since 1982. While the program is based in Willamette Valley, WVFAP doesn't limit membership to those from specific geographical areas. The program is open to all who meet eligible income guidelines.
Most "emergency" food banks only provide a once a month food box (2-3 days worth of food). Often, a once a month food box is not enough to benefit a low-income family who is struggling daily just to get by. WVFAP offers a continuous and reliable source of access to food by providing a weekly food distribution.
Each week, hundreds of families benefit from our weekly food distributions where they can shop for themselves, choosing from a wide selection of nutritional options. The amount of food members receive weekly (valued at $100-$200 on average), greatly supplements their food budget and personal expenses. Since their basic need is met, this allows them to focus on supporting themselves and their families.
WVFAP's unique self-help program provides members with the opportunity to help themselves. Through paying minimal membership fees, members retain a sense of dignity knowing that they are not receiving a hand out.
